How TNT Towing & Salvage Disposal collects, uses, and protects your information across our website and the TNT Towing mobile app.

Last updated: August 24, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how TNT Towing & Salvage Disposal ("TNT", "we", "us") handles personal information when you use our website and our TNT Towing mobile application (the "App"). The App is used by our customers to book and track towing and roadside service and to participate in salvage auctions, by people who apply for jobs with us, and by our drivers and dispatch staff to manage service calls. By using the App or website, you agree to this Policy.

We handle personal information in accordance with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), which governs private businesses in Alberta. Where information crosses provincial or national borders in the course of our business — for example, out-of-province customers or the service providers described in §3 — Canada's federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) may also apply.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account details — your name, email address, phone number, and a password (stored only in encrypted/hashed form). If you use a third-party sign-in option, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from that sign-in provider.
  • Service request details — pickup and drop-off locations, vehicle information (year, make, model, colour, VIN), and notes you provide when booking a tow or roadside service.
  • Auction activity — bids you place and related contact details.
  • Photos — images you or our drivers capture for a service call (e.g. vehicle condition / damage documentation) and VIN scans taken with the camera.
  • Signatures — a digital signature you may provide to authorize a service or release.
  • Messages — chat messages exchanged between customers, drivers, and dispatch about a service call.

Information collected automatically

  • Location information. For drivers, location sharing is required to work: the App collects precise device location — including in the background while the App is closed or not in use — whenever a driver is accepting or actively working a call, so dispatch can route the nearest unit and automatically record arrival times. A driver cannot accept a call, or advance a call past en route/on scene/towing, unless location sharing is currently active. For customers, we use the location attached to a booking (e.g. your pickup address) to show your assigned driver's progress; we do not continuously track a customer's device in the background.
  • Push notification tokens — a device identifier used to send you status updates and alerts.
  • IP address & device information — your network (IP) address and basic device/browser details, collected automatically when you use the site or App and recorded with actions such as signing in, booking, or accepting our terms. We use these for security, fraud prevention, rate-limiting, and to keep a record of consent.
  • Diagnostic data — basic technical information (such as error logs) needed to keep the service running reliably.

Cookies & similar technologies

We use a small number of essential cookies — chiefly a secure session cookie that keeps you signed in and protects forms against cross-site request forgery. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell data to advertisers. Our security provider (Cloudflare) may set a cookie to distinguish humans from automated traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, but the account and booking features may not work without the essential session cookie.

If you apply for a job with us

When you apply through our Careers page, we collect the information you submit — your name, email, phone number, any cover note, and the resume you upload — and create an account so you can apply and track your application. We use this information only to consider you for employment, contact you about your application, and manage our hiring process. It is stored securely and access is limited to the people involved in hiring. We keep applicant resumes and details only as long as needed for the hiring process (and any reasonable follow-up), and you may ask us to delete your resume and application at any time using the contact details in §10.

Payment information

Payments are processed by a secure, PCI-compliant third-party payment processor. Card and bank details are entered directly with that processor and are not stored on our servers. We retain only a record of the transaction (amount, date, status) needed to issue receipts and run the business.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, dispatch, and track towing and roadside services.
  • Route the closest available driver and automatically log arrival and completion times.
  • Send you booking confirmations, driver-assignment and arrival notifications, and service updates.
  • Process payments and email invoices and receipts.
  • Operate salvage auctions and notify you about your bids.
  • Document vehicle condition for service and liability purposes.
  • Maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, and meet legal obligations.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us operate, and only as needed:

Type of providerPurpose
Payment processorSecurely processing card payments
Hosting & infrastructure providerWebsite & app hosting and data storage
Email delivery providerSending transactional email (confirmations, invoices)
Push notification providersDelivering push notifications
Mapping & location providerDisplaying maps and the live driver location

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our agreements, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of TNT, our customers, or the public.

Storage and processing outside Canada

Some of the service providers we use to run the business store or process personal information on servers located outside Canada (including in the United States) — for example our payment processor, our email-delivery provider, and our website/app hosting and file-storage provider. While information is outside Canada it may be accessible to the courts, law enforcement, and national-security authorities of that jurisdiction. If you have questions about our handling of personal information by service providers outside Canada, or would like a copy of our related policies, contact our Privacy Officer (see §7). This notice is provided in accordance with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act.

4. Location Data — Your Control

The App requests location permission only when needed, and drivers are shown a clear in-app explanation before background location is enabled. For drivers, location sharing is mandatory — it is a condition of accepting and working calls, not an optional toggle: the App will not let a driver accept a call, or advance a call past en route/on scene/towing, unless location sharing is currently active. Disabling location permission in device settings will prevent a driver from accepting or completing calls. Customers are never required to grant background location, and remain fully in control of their own device's location permission at all times.

5. Data Retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services, comply with legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Specific periods we apply:

  • Live location history (the second-by-second GPS breadcrumb used for live tracking) is automatically deleted after 90 days.
  • Transaction records — invoices, signed tow authorizations/consents, and job photos — are retained for 3 years as required by Alberta's Vehicle Towing and Storage Regulation, then deleted.
  • Account and contact information is kept while your account is active; on deletion it is anonymized (see §7) subject to the retained transaction records above.
  • Job-applicant information (resumes and application details) is kept only for as long as needed for the hiring process and reasonable follow-up, and is deleted on request; it is not subject to the 3-year towing-records rule above.

6. Security

We protect your information using encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data and limit access to those who need it.

7. Your Rights & Account / Data Deletion

You may access or update your profile information within the App. You can delete your account directly in the App (Profile → Delete Account), or request deletion by contacting us below. When you delete your account, we revoke all access and anonymize your personal contact information — including the name, phone, email and notes attached to your past bookings — so you are no longer identifiable. The underlying transaction records (invoice amounts and dates, signed tow authorizations, and job photos) are retained for the 3-year period required by Alberta law and then deleted, as described in §5. To request a copy of your data or ask a privacy question, contact us at protocolxero.ai@gmail.com or call (403) 327-4279.

Privacy contact: Questions, access requests, or complaints about how we handle your personal information can be directed to our Privacy Officer at protocolxero.ai@gmail.com or (403) 327-4279. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (oipc.ab.ca) or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).

8. Children

The App and website are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App or website after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
